Tile count = order area ÷ nominal tile module area, rounded up.
BuildCalc converts measurements to a consistent internal unit, applies your project geometry and only then adds the selected waste allowance. Packaging quantities are rounded up because partial bags, blocks or boxes usually cannot be ordered.
Tile orders must account for both covered area and whole-package purchasing. Enter the actual project dimensions, tile face size, pieces per box and a waste allowance suited to the pattern. Openings, borders and areas using a different tile should be calculated separately.
The base area is 80 square feet. With 12% waste, the order area is 89.6 square feet. Using 12 × 24 in tiles, each nominally covering 2 square feet, the estimate rounds up to 45 tiles before whole-box rounding.
This calculator uses tile face area for a practical order estimate. Layout modules, cuts and manufacturer coverage should be checked for the selected tile and joint.
Color and caliber can vary between production lots. Buying the planned quantity at once reduces the risk of visible differences during installation or repair.
