BuildCalc converts measurements to a consistent internal unit, applies your project geometry and only then adds the selected waste allowance. Packaging quantities are rounded up because partial bags, blocks or boxes usually cannot be ordered.
Accurate area is the starting point for most coverage-based material estimates. Measure length and width in consistent units, split L-shaped spaces into rectangles, and add the sections. Subtract openings only when the material calculation actually requires it.
A rectangular room that is 15 ft long and 12 ft wide has an area of 180 square feet. The same area is 20 square yards or approximately 16.72 square meters, and its perimeter is 54 feet.
Divide it into two non-overlapping rectangles, calculate each area and add the results. Sketching the sections helps prevent overlap or omissions.
Square feet measure two-dimensional area. Linear feet measure a one-dimensional length and cannot be converted without another dimension such as width.
